Summerfins can't stand heat. After all, that's why they migrate to water during the summer.
Lythorus
Seasonfins are a subspecies of shape that can be any shape. During either summer or winter, they migrate to either a lake (freshwater) or the ocean (marine). Their body undergoes a change that allows them to adapt to the new climate and location.
Story
Rumor has it, Summerfins were shape-made using power and genetic modification to force shapes into the water via transformation. Winterfins, however, evolved from Summerfins who, instead of the heat, could not stand the cold. Summerfins and Winterfins are usually grouped as the same species, now known as Seasonfins.
Biology
Did you know that newts use prolactin, a hormone that helps mammals make milk, as the hormone that directs them to water during the spring? Despite being mammalian creatures (aside from their gills), Seasonfins do the same thing. They need a lot of energy to transform, so during their transition to aquatic life they often need to eat much more than normally.
Behavior
Summerfins cannot tolerate much heat and may prematurely migrate and transform mid-spring if it's warm enough. They also steer clear of hot water. Winterfins are likewise not fond of the cold or cold water. Freshwater Seasonfins and Marine Seasonfins often don't hang out much when not in the water.
Diet
Their diet depends on the shape.
Appearance
Most of the time, they look like normal shapes. However, come summer or winter, they grow a big tail fin, their gills become large appendages, their legs become fins, and their weapon becomes more suitable for water. The tail of a Freshwater Seasonfin looks like the tail of a newt, while the tail of a Marine Seasonfin looks like the tail of a shark.
Region
Most of the time they are fine anywhere, but come their changing time they rush for either a lake or the ocean.
Abilities
While they only have fins during their aquatic season, Seasonfins like most metamorphic amphibians have gills year round. When their time comes to migrate to water, they remain in their normal form for three days and then begin metamorphosis. It can take up to two months for a Seasonfin to transform fully, but never takes too long for them to transform back.
Class
Amphibious Variant of any shape or monster
Trivia
- The concept of Seasonfins may be moved to an AU.
