I'll never, EVER let the likes of a shape like you drain my color!

Magenta's response to Ina's threat to purify him

TW/CW: The bottom of the Symptoms section contains mentions of alcohol, smoking, and drugs.

Blerix's Corruption is a cousin of the Pink Corruption that acts in almost the opposite way. Instead of controlling shapes, it takes away their self control. Being much stronger than the Pink Corruption, Blerix's Corruption can even infect Heroes if the attacking shape wishes to.

Since Blerix's Corrupts are not as dangerous as they initially were, they are allowed to roam Paradise. However, if they begin stirring trouble, they usually need to be purified.

There is a specific strain of this virus known as Frontlines' Vampirism.

Spread[]

Blerix's Corruption spreads through similar means to her predecessor, e.g. touch or physical injury. However, these corrupts choose whether or not they want to infect their victim. The only way an accidental infection with Blerix's Corruption can occur is if one intends to infect something else but hits the wrong target.

Symptoms[]

When they first contract it, a shape will begin sweating excessively as if they had the Pink Corruption. Other physical symptoms are often present, including but not limited to nausea, mild dizziness, and tiredness, but it varies from shape to shape. However, a pleasant feeling will overcome them as they turn pink. Originally, they'd often abandon any laws and morality they once abided by, doing whatever they want for their own amusement. This behavior can still occasionally be seen but on much less severe scales. These corrupts are infamous for impatience and have a tendency to lose their temper very quickly and for very strange reasons. The mark of Blerix's Corruption looks like the paw print of an animal with three toes. Blerix's Corrupts occasionally have small appearance differences from their original form (e.g. BC!Hexacrigon having a visible mouth), and Pink Corrupts often call their Blerix's Corrupt counterparts nicknames that often imply the latter being a clone (e.g. the original Cubic calls BC!Cubic "Cubictwo").

Blerix's Corruption also gives shapes a slight boost in physical power as well. This can cause shapes to gain abilities they did not previously have, especially if they have a connection to the Tree of Life. All Villains gain a Corrupted Kiss which they can use to infect other shapes, for example. They also have the highest chance to gain any other new abilities.

During The Red Chaos, Blerix's Corrupts were vicious and did anything they wanted regardless of morals. However, as it came to a close, they became less of "immoral jerks" and more of just "wild party animals" or "reclusive introverts". Some corrupts are still very immoral in nature and will harm other shapes to their benefit, but many nowadays are simply there to enjoy their lives and help their pure counterpart alleviate stress. There are also numerous guides to not provoke a corrupt to anger when interacting with them with useful tips to help prevent harm, which helps pure shapes and Blerix's Corrupts get along. Due to this, some shapes turn to this variant of Corruption as a form of therapy, a means of getting in touch with their shadow (since their corrupted counterpart may have traits and feelings that are otherwise hidden in their shadow), or simply recreationally (such as at Pinkrave).

Due to the chaotic nature of these corrupts, many have a habit of drinking, smoking, doing drugs, or performing other taboo, risky/unhealthy recreational activities.

Background[]

The reason why Blerix's Corruption can infect heroes instead of controlling shapes is because of how it was created. Due to being created partially from energy produced by the Tree of Life, it is naturally connected to the Tree, and due to that, the Tree's and Heroes' immunity to the Pink Corruption does not apply. However, because all of this power goes into infectivity, it would lose this effect if made a controlling virus like its ancestor.

Trivia[]

  • On December 9th of 2019, I commented on the Tree of Life's wiki page that if it can get corrupted, then with enough power, the Heroes could presumably get corrupted as well.[1] Lo and behold, that very theory is now the reason they can contract Blerix's Corruption.
